Jagsttal eco-project
Set-aside in the Jagsttal
We purchased a forest property on an extremely steep slope on the banks of the Jagst (Germany). The aim is to transform the ancient tree population into a biotope and permanently remove it from use. The deadwood offers optimal conditions for endangered animal and plant species and the old trees also store significantly more CO2 than their managed counterparts.
Thanks to the support of an environmental planning office, it has now been possible to submit the application for forest decommissioning in accordance with the eco-account regulations. We are therefore currently concentrating on the planning and development of further ecological or educational use of the forest site after it has been set aside – in line with the foundation’s philosophy. Exciting possibilities have already been discussed in talks with potential cooperation partners.
